Aims and Outcomes

Very low level of education, community does not see education necessarily translating into formal employment. The literacy rate of Muslims (59.1%) is far below the National average (65.1%). School beyond primary level are few in Muslim localities .Many a times Madrasas are the only educational option available to the Muslim children, especially for those belonging to poor families .The incidence of never attended and school drop outs is the highest in Muslim community (as many as 25% of the Muslim Children in the age group pf 6-16 have never attended or dropped out of school).Educational attainment levels across Primary, Middle, Higher as well as secondary level are among the lowest in the country. Muslim youth are not “formally” educated to be able to benefit by job opportunities arising as a result of economic growth. Therefore, a need for a program that ensures these youth are connected to the emerging job opportunities.
